May 20, 2026, marks the 27th World Metrology Day, with this year’s theme being “Metrology: The Foundation of Trust.” In recent years, as the new‑energy vehicle industry has grown rapidly, the metrological accuracy of charging stations has increasingly become a key public concern. To take advantage of this opportunity and enable the general public to gain a better understanding of the verification process for electric‑vehicle charging‑station meters—thereby strengthening trust in metrology—the Qianwan Branch, in collaboration with the Ningbo Institute of Metrology and Testing and Ningbo Taifengyuan Electric Co., Ltd., held a pilot promotion event on May 12 at the charging station of the Haiyue Huantu Hotel in the New Area.

At the Haiyue Huantu Hotel’s charging station, technical staff showcased a new‑generation charging gun and conducted on‑site demonstrations of its charging process—featuring the separation of the gun from the charging pile—as well as its metrological verification procedure. They then presented the accompanying smart monitoring platform for charging piles, clearly illustrating how the platform enables intelligent oversight of charging stations within the pilot program area, including anomaly alerts and end‑to‑end traceability. In addition, law enforcement officers distributed metrology‑related brochures and small gifts to attendees, providing educational information about charging infrastructure and encouraging users to proactively safeguard their consumer rights when encountering issues during use.

Since the launch of the pilot program for intelligent metering and supervision of charging stations last September, a total of seven charging stations have been set up within the New Area, equipped with 20 DC charging guns and 30 AC charging guns, all of which have been put into trial operation. To date, the system has maintained stable performance, with equipment in good working condition. The accompanying online monitoring system is functioning normally, delivering accurate data collection and real-time oversight, thereby enabling comprehensive, round-the-clock supervision of the charging process, synchronized data aggregation, and dynamic status alerts. As of now, the pilot equipment has recorded a cumulative total of 11,278 charging sessions, with 241,599 kWh of electricity delivered and a total charging duration of 9,847 hours, reflecting a steady and orderly operational trajectory.
Going forward, the branch bureau will take the pilot program for smart metrological supervision of charging stations in the New Area as an opportunity to further strengthen metrology‑based services that benefit the public, focus on metrology issues of vital concern to residents, and elevate the digital governance and service delivery of metrological oversight. By ensuring accurate measurements, it will safeguard fair trade and contribute the power of market regulation to the healthy development of green energy.
